Nature of the organization/Type

It’s a cultural, non-political, non-religious, non-profit and voluntary organization.

Background
In Trondheim, the scope to learn South Asian Culture is very low. There is a gradual weakening of the connection of the South Asian population with their native languages, music, dance and other art forms. The kids/children growing up in Trondheim do not have the opportunity to learn and appreciate their own cultures. In this respect the South Asian Cultural association(SACA-T) aims to provide a platform for the promotion of the rich and diverse cultural traditions of South Asia. We are aware of the presence of many talented artists and competent teachers amongst us. It is need of the hour that we develop a common platform to bring them all together and utilize their expertise. The SACA-T aims to train youngsters and promote appreciation of native culture through recreational and cultural activities.

Key Objectives:

The SACC-T shall promote cultural activities and establish an amicable relation among residents with diverse ethnic background through cultural interaction.

  • Our central objective is to bring all talented multi- lingual local artists (students, other peoples) together and utilize their knowledge to teach and train the next generations. The members will come from the different organizations at Trondheim.
  • This club will conduct talent hunt programs to identify new artists e.g. musicians and dancers.
  • Platform to organize music, dancing and language lessons through this association specifically to the kids, children and students.
  • The club will allocate the resources to conduct teaching and workshop.
  • Once a year an “International -Cultural night program” will be held through this club.
  • Promote Friendship and develop networking.
Activities:

The SACA-T shall perform the following activities:

  • Arranging and participating in cultural and social programs.
  • Co-operating with other national and international organizations.
  • Teaching/workshop of South Asian languages & dances/music for the Children.
  • Organizing International Cultural nights at least once in a year
  • Maintaining a healthy and friendly relationship among the members through timely gathering, fruitful discussions, cultural rehearsals, mutual co-operations and assistance to newcomers.
  • Providing a forum to exchange ideas on academic, cultural and social issues.
  • Contributing to the society with welfare works in various forms within the ability and the scope of the SACA.
Types of Membership:

A) General Member: The South Asian students/ kids and those who loves cultural activities can be a member for SACA. However, nationality and ethnic background is not important criteria for membership. Anyone who is interested in learning south Asian culture and / or contributing to the development SACA can apply for membership. However, any bad behavior/harmful people shall not get membership of SACA-T, at this case applicant past history will be accounted for rejection -membership.

B) Lifetime Member: Any general member can become a lifetime member upon payment of NOK 1000 with approval of the Founder President and Secretary. The founder executive committee (EC) will get lifetime membership by default.

C) Donor Member: Any organization or individual can become a donor member upon donation of NOK 1000 with approval of the Founder President and Secretary.

D) Honorary Member: Persons from the different society (who is not harmful for SACA) will be eligible become an Honorary Member (approved by the current EC and QC by founder president and Secretary ) upon giving normal membership fees as a normal member.

Subscription fees for General Membership:

Any membership will be approved by the Executive Committee (EC) following recommendations of two members of the EC by using the printed form of the organization (SACA-T). After approval of membership, she/he will have to pay a subscription fee (annual/lifetime) that is applicable for her/him.

Rights of Members:

A) General Member
General members can stand for any position in the Executive Committee through election

General Members will each have a single vote

Endorsed by at least one-tenth of total general members, a General Member can propose the President for dismissing the current Executive Committee on the ground of inability to carry out its function properly. The President will call a meeting within 15 days after getting such notice. If two-third of total general members vote for the dismissal of the Executive Committee in that case the President shall dismiss the Executive Committee and arrange a fresh election for the election of the Executive Committee.

B) Lifetime Member
The lifetime members can enjoy all facilities of the organization like general members without the need to pay annual subscriptions.

C) Donor Member
Although a donor member cannot participate in the election or cast vote, she/he will enjoy all other facilities of the organization. They will be encouraged to provide advice to the organization for further development.

D) Honorary Member
Honorary Members will be limited in numbers to provide advice to the SACA. They have only right to advice EC Members.

Rules of Membership:
a) Cancellation
The membership can be cancelled if the member is found to be involved in any action or activities deemed to be detrimental to the interest of SACA

The membership will automatically be cancelled if subscription is unpaid for two consecutive years.

b) Re-membership
A member can apply for re-membership if he or she is terminated by Clause 9 {(Sub-clause a (II)}. If s/he is considered eligible must pay all previous arrears of subscription and current year’s subscription.

Re-membership will not be considered by any means if member is terminated by clause 9 {(Sub-clause a (I)}.

Structure of the organization
SACA-T will consist of the following bodies:
A. Founder of this club
B. Resources-Team
C. General Body
D. Executive Committee (EC)

The Executive Committee will consist of 15 members for two years.
